SAP GROW is SAP's entry point to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition for organizations that are new to SAP and want to start with a standardized, cloud-native ERP core. GROW with SAP → SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition: the multi-tenant SaaS ERP. SAP runs and maintains it; you adopt the standard best practices and configure to fit. This is Scheer's 100% focus.

RISE with SAP → SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition: a single-tenant, hosted-plus environment that customer, partner, and SAP maintain together. It leaves more room to customize — closer to a classic on-premise setup.

The real question is customization, not technology. Private Edition exists for organizations that must keep extensive custom processes. For many others, today's best practices in the Public Edition have advanced far enough that that freedom no longer earns its extra maintenance — a standardized SaaS core is enough.
