The concept

SAP Business AI Platform (BAIP) is SAP's cloud platform for extending, connecting, and adding AI to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. According to SAP, BAIP is the renamed, AI-first evolution of SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), introduced in 2026. The BTP capabilities were consolidated under BAIP rather than removed. Access to the platform is included with every Public Edition subscription. The ERP runs the standard processes. BAIP is where an organization adds the data, automation, integration, and AI that make those processes intelligent, without changing the core.

The Build, Reason, and Govern layers

SAP describes BAIP through three layers, joined by a connective integration-and-extension layer. Each layer has a defined role.

BAIP rests on the Clean Core principle. Extensions are built on the platform and connect to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition through released interfaces, so the standardized core stays untouched.
